ACT & SAT
Most 4 year colleges/universities require an ACT or SAT score for admission purposes. (All colleges will take ACT OR SAT. Location of the college or advertised averages on a specific test, do not indicate that only one test is accepted.)
Most students will take an ACT or SAT several times before submitting college applications. Students can begin taking the ACT whenever they feel ready, but most should begin no later than February of their junior year.
To register for the ACT: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration.html
To register for the SAT: http://www.collegeboard.org/
There is a fee for the ACT and SAT which is paid for by the student or student's family. (Some students may qualify for a designated amount of fee waivers during their high school career. Please contact the college and career advisor, if you think your child may qualify for a fee waiver.) Brentwood does offer one ACT test during the school day for our juniors. The cost for the test offered during the school day is covered by the district.
College Athletics
Students seeking to play a Division 1 or 2 NCAA sport in college must register with the NCAA High School Eligibility Center at the end of their high school junior year.
The Guide for the Student Bound Athlete has very helpful information for students considering athletics in college.
See Brentwood High School's approved NCAA course-list by looking at the NCAA eligibility portal; Brentwood's CEEB/ACT code is 260345.
For students taking classes through Launch: Launch NCAA is approved and is a program offered through Springfield Public Schools. Launch students are attributed to one high school, Central High School (CEEB/ACT Code: 263300). Students taking classes through LAUNCH may also view LAUNCH's approved NCAA course list via the LAUNCH website.
Check out NCAA's COVID-19 updates on their coronavirus resource page.
